Spider-man Broadway Show is a GO!

Marvel exec, Peter Cuneo, spoke in New York today about the Spider-man Musical they've been planning for Broadway.

The current status of the show is that it's definitely a go. They are only waiting for a theater to run it in.

Julie Taymor is confirmed as director and Bono and The Edge have completed the musical score.

Marvel's Peter Cuneo says they are, "very pleased with our Broadway show. The show is done, it's being directed by Julie Taymor who of course won the Tony for Lion King. The music has been done by Bono and The Edge."

So when is it scheduled to hit the stage? They say it can open as soon as late 2009!
Marvel exec Cuneo continued, "a late '09 launch or a 2010...actually it's a challenge to find a theater on Broadway right now. These things are all scheduled, as you might imagine, well in advance. So the timing is more related to getting a theater than it is to the progress of the show."

And how's it looking so far? Pretty damn good it sounds like. When we spoke with Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe, 21) recently, he told us he went to New York to help Taymor put the show on for Marvel, apparently they were very please with it. Cuneo says, "We are very, very happy with how this show looks at this point. And, if it is successful, including road shows, this can have a material impact on Marvel's numbers."

we all new this was coming! spider man on braodway but who cares about that the whole time i was reading this i was waiting to see where jim sturgess ended up in this! hes so HOTTT! he disereves a wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy prettier gf! hes soo helpful! im so glad hes so hot or else i wouldnt of liked across the universe and 21 well i would but not as much as a do! wow my brother is gonna want to see this broadway thingy! I LOVE U JIM STURGESS!!!

I wish I lived there so I could see it. :) Jim is so cool and adroable and most importantly he's smart, which ultimately wins my respect. People like him deserve the best. :) And his gf is beautiful and I wouldn't say a word against her b/c really... I believe that a guy like that would only choose a cool, sweet, smart, talented, creative lady to be with. And I bet Mickey is just that.

I would absolutally go see him he is amazing i would love to go see it. but it is in NY so i can't go see it (too far away sadly) he did an amazing job in across the Universe and 21 to see him again would be amazing. he acutally looks like he would be Great as Spider Man! I LOVE JIM STURGESS! can't wait to see him in something else!
